Hello friends. I hope receiving this newsletter brings a smile to your face! April has felt like a whirlwind. Settling into my new job has kept me busy, I am having way less patience for meal planning lately, the weekends seem way too short, flowers are everywhere, and right at the end of the month we got a few very warm days, and it got me very excited for warmer days, backyard hangs, upcoming trips, etc. All this to say that life is cruising right along, and I’m enjoying the ride!
Food!
My current favorite dinner is this: Buy some pita bread rounds, and some tzatziki. Chop up a tomato, cucumber, onion, toss with a little lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast an eggplant, or cauliflower, or make some tasty soy curls, or chicken, a combo of any of the above, or heck—even shrimp would probably be tasty, add some lettuce or spinach. Wrap it all up together and eat!!
Another winner this month: Baked Cauliflower Parmesan. We had this with some orzo tossed in pesto and it was delicious. No breading required, and super easy, especially if you have some jarred or frozen sauce on hand.
Books/TV/Movies!
Derek DelGaudio’s In & Of Itself on Hulu is a fascinating one-man show/experience. I don’t know what else to say about it, besides watch it and let’s discuss!!!! Hulu says: It tells the story of a man fighting to see through the illusion of his own identity, only to discover that identity itself is an illusion.
Swarm on Amazon Prime is the craziest thing we have watched in a while. I loved it and I keep thinking about it. Thank you to my amazing Sis-in-law for recommending it! Once again, I am scared of saying too much and ruining it. This show deals with the cult of popstars and is very dark and twisted and keeps you guessing right up to the very end.
Beef on Netflix is such a great binge-watch! This show made me laugh a lot and is such a tangled web, with a lot of heart. The trailer does not do it justice. Great writing, great acting, super entertaining!
Jury Duty on Freevee which you can watch on Amazon Prime. This is a ridiculous premise but it’s so funny. The show is set up like a documentary about jury duty (a la The Office), except that everyone on the show is an actor except for one guy who really thinks he is on a reality show. Elyse Myers told me to watch it and so I did and Elyse was right.
I have to mention Daisy Jones and The Six, the TV show, on Amazon Prime, even though overall I think I had unrealistically high expectations for this show. It was a good show, well cast for the most part, the music was good. Overall, there is nothing wrong with this show, but it just didn’t have the same magic as the book for me. I kept feeling it could be better. Don’t ask me how though, I don’t know anything about making TV shows. It is worth watching, and maybe if you haven’t read the book, you might not be as judgey about it as I am. I think I am going to listen to the audiobook soon, so I can relive the book again!
Projects!
Lots of progress on the Star Pop quilt and I have started planning a new baby quilt for a friend who is pregnant and due this summer! I love making surprise quilts for new babies!
Miscellaneous!
I got new glasses and had a backyard hangout with some friends! Haven’t gotten to pulling the weeds yet, obviously, but it was wonderful to sit outside and eat and drink and laugh! Last year I didn’t get to do anything like this because I was so cared of catching anything and delaying my treatments.
Remi!
April 29 was our 2 year adoptiversary!!!! I love this little creature so much.
Goodbye, until next month!

I am so late at replying to this, so maybe you have already done so- but I highly recommend the Daisy Jones & The Six audiobook!!
