Hello! I find writing subtitles for this thing every month so very annoying. I guess I could leave it blank but that just doesn’t feel right. Should I start including stupid jokes or lines from horoscopes or some other weird thing that makes no sense? Open to ideas. I have been enjoying the sunshine, the longer days, and it’s been a fun month.
Food!
This is a bit of a non-recipe recipe for an easy gnocchi dinner, but I wanted to share it because I think there are endless combos that would work with this! I used Impossible spicy sausage, 8 oz mushrooms, regular shelf stable gnocchi, 4 medium tomatoes cut into quarters, a whole zucchini sliced in thin half-moons, and I skipped the arugula. I also added in some pesto at the end. It was absolutely delicious and so easy.
Green goddess tahini: put it on everything!
Cauliflower couscous salad recipe from Six Seasons. Alexandra told me to try it and so I did and it is delicious and so easy! I can think of many ways to adapt this and is perfect for potlucks and bbqs, since it is vegan, gluten free, and very fresh and crunchy! (You could of course add some cheese, feta or goat cheese would be really great with this variation).
Books/TV/Movies!
SUCCESSION is over and I really enjoyed the ride of this show. I am glad they didn’t keep it going on and on endlessly, it definitely felt like the right time to end, and the ending was good. Also love this instagram: KendallRoyLookingSad
Somebody Somewhere is a funny and sweet show that we have been enjoying. Season 2 just ended, and it’s very bingeable with short eps!
I forgot to mention this show last month, Dispatches from Elsewhere! It’s streaming on AMC+, and is a few years old. It’s based on or inspired by a documentary (which we still need to watch), and is just magical and fun and lovely. I didn’t love the ending, but it is wonderful and I still recommend it!
Projects!
I started an online shop to sell random illustrations on t-shirts, stickers, water bottles, etc. I used to be really into illustrating, so this has been fun to get back into and think of cute things to put on buyable objects!!! Check it out and spread the word!! I’ll be adding new designs regularly, as I have time to think of them and make them. If you have any specific requests, let me know!!
I took a break from working on my StarPop Quilt to make a quilt for a baby due in June! I am obsessed with this Hello Spring Quilt Pattern from Sarah Made and will be making a throw size for myself soon. I learned some new skills making this little quilt and had to use my seam ripper quite a bit, but in the end it turned out perfect and I LOVE it!!!
Miscellaneous!
Matthew and I just got back from a little weekend getaway to the Bay Area to see The Cure play at Shoreline Amphitheater. The show itself was great, a bucketlist sort of thing, and we were able to share it with friends too! Matthew and I haven't done a weekend trip like this in many years, so it was really fun to wander around, explore, eat everything, and we also went to the Winchester mystery house! We missed Remi terribly, but she had a nice vacation with her friend Geoffrey.
This month marks one year since I had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from my right breast. It feels like a long time ago and yet the year has gone by fast. Mixed feelings all around. Thanks for reading along on my journey through life :)
Remi!
She’s just a little pretzel dog.
Goodbye, until next month!
